Hello Friends,
I will be showing a new body of work (with a few older paintings mixed in) for the month of October at La Familia Gallery. Bring some friends and join the artwalk, I would love to see you there! I have a number of new beetles that Im very proud of!
I will also be at the gallery to talk about my work on the following dates: October 10,17 and 24 from 11am-5pm. It will be a good chance to ask questions without the crowds that artwalk tends to bring.

FIFTY24SEA Gallery at Upper Playground is proud to present the arrival of renowned artist Redd Walitzki.
Cornish Alumna Redd Walitzki is debuting a new series of mixed-media paintings “Decadent/Decay” to celebrate the One Year Anniversary of Upper Playground Seattle this month. In what can only be described as a collision of traditional Tibetan painting and rococo Versailles, she explores themes of fin de sié cle decadence, and excess turned sour. Spoiled desserts, broken perfumes, and abjectly-cute creatures set the mood of the show, while her use of patterned collage reinforces and underscores the ornateness and femininity of her subject matter.
Her elegant style is a signature characteristic of her work featuring much of her former teaching, discipline and background. This trademark visual style was refined by formal training in years of Tibetan Thanga scroll design, to which she also attributes her detail and adoration for pattern. Redd then went on to attending Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she combined her unique visual style with a new found love of conceptual works. Now living in Pioneer Square (Seattle’s artist district), she is a working artist originally from Germany.
This will be a fun filled evening on September 18th, 2009. For more information, please contact: Jen Vertz at Fifty 24SEA Gallery, upperplaygroundjen@gmail.com, or the artist at www.candygears.com

About Soapbox
The art world is full of artists who are searching for technique, style or meaning, sometimes all of the above. It’s what artists do–what they are supposed to do. Watching that journey is fascinating. Some artists hit you over the head with the lessons they’ve learned, while others continually search for their voice without success. There’s a lot of meaning without technique, and technique without meaning. Some artists cater to the critics, and some cater to the masses. But on a good day, you’ll find an artist who appeals to both of those groups–someone who has a clear vision, the technique to pull it off and something intriguing to say.
This is what “Soapbox” is all about…those amazing people who use their art to speak their minds, and present the perfect marriage of function and form in ways that are both subtle and accessible. Artists include Michelle Anderst, Jenny E. Balisle, Ryan Molenkamp, Cheryl Molnar, Chris Sheridan and Kellie Talbot.
Jonathan Wakuda Fischer laughed and danced his way through the few weeks of painting his room, staying up all night on coffee and Led Zeppelin too many nights in a row. It turned out great- see the finished product at the next opening on 2nd Friday Belltown Art Walk on Sept. 11, 2009 from 6pm – 9pm! Here is the video of his room in progress- never before seen footage of him working hard at the Hostel.
The only way to truly see this room is to check it out at the next 2nd Belltown Art Walk, where residing in the room is a 15′ foot tall Wander Character who resides in this room- under the bed possibly? Behind the sink? Here is the video of the room in progress:
Check out more of Solace at his Facebook page!
If you like Weirdo’s room at the City Hostel Seattle, you should definitely see his show at the Corridor Gallery! It is open from 12 – 5pm on Friday and Saturday’s and will be up through October, in the Tashiro Kaplan Building at 306 S. Washington St.
Here are a few previews for you!!
